Mark Cheetham Colorectal and General Surgeon
I am a Consultant General and Colorectal Surgeon in Shrewsbury, Shropshire, UK.
I was educated at Oswestry School and then trained in medicine at St Thomas’ Hospital in London. After medical school, I trained in general surgery in the North West Thames region. I became particularly interested in colorectal surgery and performed research at St Mark’s Hospital. I have worked as a consultant in the NHS at Shrewsbury and Telford NHS Trust and private practice since 2005. My private practice is based at the Nuffield Health Shrewsbury Hospital.
I am a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of England, and a member of the Association of Coloproctology of Great Britain and Ireland, the Association of Surgeons of Great Britain and Ireland and the International Society of Surgeons.
Outside of surgery, I am interested in leadership and quality improvement in healthcare. I am currently Care Group Medical Director for Scheduled Care at Shrewsbury and Telford Hospital NHS Trust.
I have been awarded a Health Foundation Generation Q Fellowship and I have recently completed an MSc in Quality Improvement and Leadership at Ashridge Business School.
